Chimera
A more generous shortboard, that still can get out of its own way.
Often times the waves are not perfect. While everyone likes 6 foot waves with a barrel section at the peak and a maneuver section on the inside, this often does not come to reality (in California at least). On the other side of the coin, how many times have you been surfing an average day, and the tide drops just right, and the inside section steepens up into a nice little barrel or final maneuver wall? Chimera was designed with these ideas in mind. A shortboard that is more forgiving and float-y than our Greasy Weasel in more average conditions, but can still handle the steep stuff when conditions come together. Medium rocker values and a wide point behind center lets the board be surfed in the pocket with fast transitions, while the wider outline and more generous foil give the board better planing ability and paddling power.
Designed for waves 1-8 feet. Like all models, it can be customized to rider request. Can be modified for step up conditions, however many choose to bump up to a Greasy Weasel when conditions get really good. Most riders will enjoy one in about their own height to 2 inches shorter, depending on wave choice.
Stock setup
- thruster
- single to double concave
- Swallow tail (so you don't outrun the section)
Example Stock Dimensions (these are approximations for volume based on commonly ordered dimensions):
- 5'4" x 18 1/4" x 2 1/4" = 23 liters
- 5'6" x 18 1/2" x 2 1/4" = 24.5 liters
- 5'8" x 18 3/4" x 2 3/8" =26 liters (original final production dimensions)
- 5'10" x 19" x 2 3/8" = 27.5 liters
- 6'0" x 19 1/4" x 2 1/2"= 29 liters
